Limerick Racecourse is gearing up for a cracking card as racing gets underway on Sunday 3rd April at 1:55pm with 7 National Hunt races on the card.

There was a thrilling opening weekend at Greenmount Park in March where Cork trainer John Joe Walsh scored a 363/1 treble with wins from Monasteradenpauric and Brian O’Connell, Instant Smile with jockey Ambrose McCurtain and completed by Never Again with Adrian Heskin. Bonny Kate won the feature race on Sunday, the Grade 2 8/1 Willie Mullins to Train a Cheltenham Winner at Coral.ie EBF Mares Novice Chase with jockey Sean Flanagan on board.

Looking ahead at racing on Sunday 3rd April, the feature race is the Hugh McMahon Memorial Novice Steeplechase (Grade 2) of €42,500 which was won by Val de Ferbet ridden by Ruby Walsh in 2015. The Kevin McManus Bookmaker Champion (Pro/Am) Flat Race (Listed) of €25000 is another highlight which was won by Charbal in 2015 and ridden by Patrick Mullins. Aspen Colorado, who was ante post favourite for the Champion bumper is entered to run in the colours of JP McManus which is always a hotly anticipated contest and also features Chalonnial from Harry Fry’s yard in the UK amongst the entries.
