Clare GAA today announced a major new fundraising initiative with Limerick Racecourse to take place on Thursday 27th July. A number of high-profile jockeys and GAA stars are saddling up for Clare GAA’s ‘Evening at the Races’ at the Greenmount track, set to be one of the highlights of this year’s social calendar.

Notable names lined up to attend on the evening include Gary Brennan, Kevin Hartnett, Tony Kelly and Shane O’Donnell.

The first of seven National Hunt races gets underway at 5.30pm followed by music after racing with country music star, Michael English. Ladies attending are encouraged to enter the Crescent Shopping Centre Twilight Most Stylish with a €500 voucher to be won on the evening.

Chairman of Clare GAA, Joe Cooney, said: “We are delighted to bring something novel to the Clare GAA Supporters and to the many racing fans in the county who would also like to support Clare GAA whilst attending a popular evening race meeting.”

Reserved tables for 10 people are priced at €700 to include admission, race card, two-course dinner, tote and bookie betting, racing tipster plus an expert panel of hurling, football and racing legends sharing their racing knowledge and tipster skills. MC on the evening will by Syl O’Connor from Clare FM. General admission with music after racing is just €15, with all pre-sold admission tickets earning a share of proceeds for Clare GAA. A sponsored race, with some punters taking virtual ownership of runners in that race, a raffle and an auction will provide other ways to support the evening and participate in the fun.

Clare’s multiple winning Champion National Hunt Amateur Jockey, Derek O’Connor, commented: “It’s great to be involved in an event that utilises my sporting passion to help raise funds for something we are all very passionate about, Clare GAA.”

All are welcome to come and support Clare GAA. For further information or to reserve a place, contact Eve in the Clare GAA offices in Clareabbey on 065 6821072 or e-mail: administrator.clare@gaa.ie.
